First project of 2013

& a frozen grandchild!
Grandchild #1 is not a fan of cold weather. This morning (just prior to heading off to school) she had on over-the-knee socks, jeans, shirt, a heavy fleece tunic (zipped all the way up),3 & double layer of a large afghan. She was almost warm ;)

My first project 2013 is a cowl. It is being knit in the Lion brand Homespun yarn, colourway 'Nouveau'.  Which is supposed to be chocolate brown, grey, & tan. The grey is a strong blue grey.

It was supposed to be knit in the round, but the circular needles that I have in the correct size aren't 'long' enough.  So I will just put a seam in it once the length is finished.  Simple pattern: four rows of rib, then seed stitch.

  2. I don't speak knitting *sigh* but I will be ready to be amazed when you show us the goods.

And I'm right with your grandchild. I sleep in sweats. And sometimes two socks. And I'm almost warm.

  3. Don't you just love all the knitted Cowl patterns out right now? I've done lots of shawls out of homespun and love working with it and wearing it. Yours is going to be so pretty and warm, too.

  4. Oooh, cowls! Hard to believe, but I just discovered cowls. I found a super cheap one at a Christmas market. I came home and made one for myself and one for Cinnamon man. Then, for Christmas, he gave me another great cowl. and I just can't get enough - they are so comfy and handy!
